Please be more rational

You just can't personalize home foreclosures or job losses. When you do, people become so wrapped up in emotion that they lose sight of what's actually going on. Irrational thinking ensues. Why do people have their homes foreclosed? Because they couldn't pay their mortgage. I don't care how many kids they have, what kind of background they came from, or the hardships that have befallen them. They entered into an agreement and couldn't fulfill their end. The consequences are justified. Without consequences, no home loans would ever be given except to those with impeccable credit and boundless collateral.

The subject of tariffs has been in the news recently what with Obama's tariff on Chinese tires. While some actually believe that tariffs, quotas, and embargos protect jobs in America, they couldn't be more wrong. The problem is, the negatives of free trade, job losses by those whose jobs can be done cheaper by others abroad, is much more tangible and personal than the positives, wealth creation, both in the US and abroad, and cheaper prices on many goods. People refuse to look beyond their own circle to the big picture. And that lack of thinking, and refusal to think, cripples their lives.

By the way, that article is unbelievable. It never mentions the reason her house was foreclosed. God forbid she didn't pay her mortgage? GASP!
