Book Review: Ratio

I like food. I like making food. I don't like taking a lot of time to make food. Ratio shows that baking and cooking is based on a few basic ratios; you only have to know these and your imagination can run wild. You are freed from measurements and subject only to your own foodie barriers (good writing, right?) I loved this book and will be buying it soon for my library. Oh, I won't have to buy many (if at all) cookbooks in the future. Bon apetit.

Two sides, one horrifying

Read this article. The food in our schools will be mandated by the federal government. On one hand, perhaps there will a push to eliminate junk food and pop from public schools. That would be awesome; kids don't need those. On the other hand, do we really want this type of government control? The government can ban any food they don't like, for political reasons, economic reasons, etc. They can push their own food companies, fattening their own wallets. I don't like it. It sounds like 1984. Which is horrifying.
