Finally some people get it. If this becomes a standard that our government holds itself to, perhaps the people will adopt it too. Of course, that would be nothing short of a miracle.

The idea that spending on some things is so important as to necessitate deficit spending is idiotic. We have a limited amount of money. We are forced to order the priorities and when the money runs out, we stop spending. Such a novel idea! No one in government has had to decide whether green technology is more important than defense spending, whether education improvements is more important than tax cuts. Such discussions are rife with disagreement, but are also forums for new ideas, critical thinking, and rationality. Politicians are not dumb people. They've just had incentives not to act smart. If we can reverse that, our country will be much better off.
