Book Review: Advantage

In Advantage, Adam Segal gives an in-depth picture of the global competition that the United States is engaged in, focusing on the erosion of many of our competitive advantages to India and China. He talks at length, but with great interest about India and China, the economic growth of those countries, obstacles facing those countries and much more. He delves into the ways America has traditionally experienced competitive advantages, why many of those advantages have disappeared, and how we can regain many of them. He proposes ways to interest our youth in science, engineering and math, as well as entrepreneurship. A shift towards these majors and careers is being accelerated by the vilification of our financial system and our over abundance of business, finance and management professionals. All in all this is a solid book that didn't strike me as repetitive or unoriginal, quite a feat when dealing with topics such as business and trade in the US, India and China.
