Minimum Wage Increase

At first, we could acknowledge that the creators of the minimum wage had good intentions in mind and that they simply didn't know basic economics. Now however, they are ignoring historical data as well. The federal minimum wage is set to go up this month, at the worst possible time. Unemployment is already extremely high, and the wage increase will only exacerbate it. There are an estimated 2.8 million people earning between the current minimum wage and the new minimum wage. They will either see their hours cut or they will lost their jobs. Employers do not have the cash flow to pay any more to their employees. So they will compensate by cutting hours or laying people off. Anyone who thinks something different will happen is a fool. And who will be those laid off? The ones with the least skills; they very people the minimum wage is trying to help. Thank you policy makers for failing to educate yourselves on elementary economics. You have worsened our economic situation and are bludgeoning the most disadvantaged among us.
