Trade Jarrod Washburn!
I know it seems crazy. We're only 3.5 games back in the west, but there are two teams ahead of us who have significantly better run differentials. It's not happening people. 3.5 doesn't seem like a lot, but it is, especially considering the competition we're facing the next two weeks. Since Bedard and Beltre are showing physical problems, Washburn is our best trade piece. We'll save some money, he's on the outside looking in for Elias Sports Type B status, and we'll get a prospect in return. We have a serious shortage of middle infielders. Ivan DeJesus, Devaris Gordon, and Tony Delmonico are all names I'd love to see in the Mariners' system. Gordon bats lefthanded so let's target him. Here is John Sickels' take on those and other Dodgers' farmhands. Grab two of those three and dance a jig. Thanks to MLBtraderumors.com for the Washburn rumors and elias rankings, John Sickels' blog for the Dodgers' prospects ranking, USSMariner for the litmus test article, and fangraphs for the player's handedness.
